New industry policy giving encouraging results for Delhi, says minister

New Delhi, June 25 (ANI): Delhi's Industries Minister Ramakant Goswami today stated that the new industrial policy introduced in the year 2010 has started giving the encouraging results.

The implementation of new industrial policy, has given fresh impetus to the industrial growth in Delhi as is evident by the growth of the manufacturing sector.

There are specific provisions in the policy for facilitating business by simplification and re-enabling measures. Business Facilitation Council to facilitate entrepreneurs in obtaining clearances from various department/agencies has already been established.

Delhi has been able to achieve a growth of 16.15 percent of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for Delhi for the manufacturing sector.

The GSDP at current prices for manufacturing sector was Rs.13, 844 crores in the year 2010-11 and has increased to Rs.16, 081 crores during the year 2011-12 (taking 2004-05 as the base year).

The GSDP at current prices for the secondary sector as a whole (comprising of manufacturing, electricity, gas and water supply and construction) has increased from Rs.45, 697 crores in the year 2010-11 to Rs.54, 501 crores in the year 2011-12 showing a growth rate of 19.26 percent.

Goswami further stated that the endeavour of the Government of Delhi is to make Delhi a hub of pollution free, high technology and knowledge based industrial activities. The industrial policy also envisages operation and maintenance of existing industrial areas and development of industrial areas on public private partnership basis.

The Government of Delhi has taken several policy decisions and has made constant endeavor to provide an excellent enabling environment for the growth of industries.

Extensive road network with dependable transport facility, adequate availability of electricity and water, good law and order situation and near absence of labour unrest has contributed to healthyrowth of industries in the city.

Delhi, being a major trade center, provides excellent market for various products and services. Delhi has got the highest minimum wages in the country, which has helped in retention of the labour and talent with the industry. (ANI)
