Devotees throng religious fair in Guwahati
Guwahati, June 23 (ANI): Devotees thronged the annual three-day Ambubachi Mela at the Kamakhya Temple here, with over 2,00,000 people visiting it on the opening day itself.
Most of the devotees have arrived from the neighbouring states of Bihar, West Bengal and Orissa.
Hindu ascetics from across the country also visited the fair.
Many of such ascetics claim to hold mystical powers and come to this fair to solve the problems of people.
Ascetic Shani Maharaj from West Bengal said that he came to the temple to seek the blessings of Mother Goddess.
"I have been coming since childhood. This is my sister's home. The Mother Goddess' 'Yoni' fell here; hence this is Yoni Peeth. Anyone who is facing a problem can come here and worship and their problems will be over. All the incomplete work also gets finished," he said.
Devotees arrived at the temple to seek the blessings of the Goddess and get their wishes fulfilled.
"Earlier I did not believe in all this. I had made a wish at the temple before the birth of my child. So today I have come here to express my gratitude to the Goddess. I am very happy to have come here finally," Ram Sharma, a devotee, said.
The Kamakhya Temple is one of the most revered temples in India in the pantheon of Hinduism's mother goddess worship. (ANI)
