London, June 22 (ANI): Former Formula 1 ace David Coulthard raced down a runway at 180mph and caught a high-flying golf ball in the passenger seat of his supercar.
Coulthard, 41, perfectly steered a Mercedes Roadster to collect the ball after golf pro Jake Shepherd smashed it 275m off a tee.
And in doing so the duo set a new Guinness World Record for the "furthest golf shot caught in a moving car."
A special black golf ball was used in the stunt so Coulthard could see it travelling through the air against the sky and steer accordingly, the Sun reported.
Coulthard said the hardest part was slowing the car down as the ball ran out of pace.
"The timing of it is the tricky thing. The ball will go off at an amazing speed but loses energy. The skillful bit is matching up," he said.
The viral video called 'The Catch' was produced for Mercedes and was the brainchild of digital agency Weapon7.
"The sheer speed of the SLS AMG Roadster, together with the skills of David Coulthard and Jake Shepherd, made this an exciting idea that only Mercedes-Benz could achieve," Executive Creative Director, Jeremy Garner, said. (ANI)
