'Let my race do the talking': Hamilton plays down McLaren contract talks

London, Fri, 22 Jun 2012 ANI

London, June 22 (ANI): Formula one ace Lewis Hamilton has vowed to let his racing do the talking, ahead of the negotiations over his 95 million pound mega-deal with McLaren.

He insisted that stretching his world championship lead is a higher priority than discussing his future at Woking.

Despite what it could do to his negotiating position, the McLaren ace rubbished Fernando Alonso's claims that the Spaniard would welcome him at Ferrari.

"Of course he is going to say that. I would say the same thing whether it was true or not," the Daily Mirror quoted Hamilton, as saying, ahead of Sunday's European Grand Prix showdown.

Hamilton played down suggestions from team supremo Ron Dennis that McLaren are investigating their driver options and that the climate had changed from the one that forced them to open their purse strings last time round.

"Ron was just trying to position himself because he knows it is getting close. I just have to wait for things to fall into place," Hamilton said.

"He is a very tough negotiator. He was very tough when they negotiated the contract I have now - and I expect him to be the same when we go back in this time," he added. (ANI)
