London, June 21 (ANI): Thousands of England fans are heading to Ukraine to cheer the Three Lions team to glory in the Euro 2012.
English supporters, who had previously written off England before the Euros, are now flocking to the competition.
Manager Roy Hodgson, 64, has managed to restore belief among the masses that England can achieve again.
A 10,000-strong army of fans are planning to invade capital Kiev for the quarter-final with Italy.
Flight searches from London to Kiev rocketed by 600 percent just seconds after Wayne Rooney's winner against Ukraine on Tuesday, while some are already preparing for the possibility that England could even reach the final, by booking trips up to and beyond the game on Sunday July 1.
"We're talking about thousands coming over. People I know coming out for the knockout stages are staying as long as England are still here," the Daily Star quoted Mark Perryman, of the official England fans supporters' club, as saying.
England took 25,000 to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the Football Supporters' Federation claim that many more will now travel.A lot of regular tournament fans who are not here could now come out. Many are pleasantly surprised that we topped the group, and they're in a positive mood ahead of the knockout stages," Kevin Miles, of the FSF said.
"Italy are no mugs, however, and it could be Germany in the semi and then Spain in the final," he added. (ANI)
