Kullu, June 20 (ANI): The quaint hill town of Kullu is wooing tourists through the Kiwi adventure sport of Zorbing.

Tourists were thrilled with their Zorbing experience, and the weather proved to be the icing on the cake.

"It was a good experience and the weather added to it. It was superb," Amit Sinha, a tourist, said.

Local organisers said the sport has gained popularity in recent times.

"This has been going on for the last six to seven years and there are 10-12 zorbing balls. This is a game that originated in New Zealand. Initially, we had only three to four zorbing balls, but tourists are enjoying this sport, so we have increased the number of balls," Prem Thakur, an organiser, said.

Zorbing originated in New Zealand in the twentieth century. In this sport, one rolls down a slope in a large plastic ball known as 'Zorb'.

The rider is strapped inside the transparent inflatable ball and then pushed from a slope.

While rolling, the Zorb can pick up a speed of 40 kilometres an hour.

Many feel that promoting such novel recreational activities can help boost tourism in Himachal Pradesh. (ANI)
