UEFA draws flak over failure to stamp racism out of Euro 2012

London, Wed, 20 Jun 2012 ANI

London, June 20 (ANI): The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is drawing flak for its double standards in acting against acts of racism during the Euro 2012.

The UEFA's bid to stamp racism out of Euro 2012 has come under fire for fining Croatia less, for their fans' monkey chants at Mario Balotelli, in comparison to Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner, who was fined for displaying a sponsored pair of underwear.

The UEFA was criticised for taking more draconian action against Bendtner after he revealed a sponsored pair of underwear, which earned him a one-match ban and 100,000 euro fine.

According to the Daily Express, the Croatian Football Federation were docked 64,561 pounds for offences including racist abuse of Italian striker Balotelli during Thursday's game in Poznan, which was also dogged by accusations a banana had been thrown on to the field.owever, the fine being much lower than the punishment imposed on Bendtner brought UEFA under fire.
