Srinagar, June 14 (ANI): A cultural youth workshop, Jashan-e-Kashmir, was organized here in a bid to promote the culture and heritage of the state among the youth.
The workshop, organized by the state government was held at Sheri Kashmir International Convocation Centre (SKICC) here on Wednesday.
Students of various schools from the valley showcased their talent by performing folk dances and songs.
A student, Bilquees Jan said this workshop would help them to showcase their culture and provide a boost to the tourism industry.
"Through this programme, we learn to preserve our culture. If we showcase our culture to them, we can attract large number of tourists," said Jan.
The organisers said that such workshop would help the budding artists to showcase their talent, besides aiming to restore peace within the state.
"This workshop has been organised to enhance the image of Kashmir. It is for the makeover of the image of the state. The initiative has been taken by Ministry of Home, and Ministry of Culture has implemented it. The youth will be trained in traditional music and dance. They will get an opportunity to participate and showcase their culture and talent in other cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Ajmer," said Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, Nawang Rigzin Jora.
The workshop was organized by Ministry of Culture and Heritage in collaboration with Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. (ANI)
