Bangalore, June 14 (IANS) Bajaj Allianz has launched the selection process for its annual Junior Football Camp for the third consecutive year to unearth football talent in the country.
The camp will be held from June 15 to July 15.
Five teenagers will be selected from over 700 schools in 120 cities across India for the international football camp to be held in Munich, Germany, in August. On their return, the five youngsters would receive training scholarships under the Youth Development Programme of Mohun Bagan club.
In addition, promising players will be rewarded with cash prizes worth a total of Rs.7.20 lakh.
The students' selection process is being conducted in Bangalore for the first time.
The activity will target 2500 students across 50 top schools in Mumbai. In addition, the selection process will be held in Pune, Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kerala, Kolkata and North East. Overall, 45,000 youngsters will be targeted during the selection process over the the course of the month.
Former international footballer Arumainayagam, Karnataka state team coach Dakshana Murthy and Ravibabu, coach of Karnataka U-16 and U-19 State teams comprise the panel for Bangalore selection trials.
The finals, to be held in Pune, will be among Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kerala to arrive at two talented youngsters who will represent India at the international Junior Football Camp in Germany.
The three most promising players during the National Finale will be awarded cash prizes worth Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively on the basis of their performance.
At all levels, students will be tested on their football skills through matches or football-related activities like dribbling and goal shooting by a panel comprising renowned Indian football players in respective cities.
The Junior Football Camp is organised in association with Allianz, the official partner of FC Bayern Munich. The camp in Munich gives teenagers from across the world between the ages of 14-16 years the opportunity to meet and train with the legendary Bayern Munich coaches on the club's official training ground.
They would also get a chance to attend a match at Allianz Arena, the unique football stadium and meet football stars from Bayern Munich like Thomas Mueller, Bastian Schweinsteiger and others.
Wilfred Synrem and Aakash Dave from Kolkata, Adarsh Tamang from Darjeeling and Avrhishto Fernandes from Goa were the talented four to be part of the Camp held last year in Munich.
Dave, Synrem and Tamang are currently part of the Mohun Bagan Youth Development Programme.
