Amritsar, June 13 (ANI): Fire fighters continue to struggle with a fire that engulfed Khanna Paper Mill here.
The country's largest paper mill caught fire nearly 15 hours ago.
Over twenty-five fire tenders are trying in vain to douse the blaze.
"Our priority is to get control over the fire at the earliest possible, for this the State Government has also been informed, since the intensity of fire is becoming higher with the each passing moment," Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal told reporters here.
Sources say that it may take couple of days to douse the fire. At least 70,000 tonnes of paper were reportedly lying at the mill when the fire broke out, causing damages running into crores of rupees.
No casualties have been reported and the exact cause of fire has not been ascertained yet.
Khanna Paper Mill is a leading paper manufacturer that supplies newsprint to major newspapers in the region. The mill is India's first exporter of newsprint to Pakistan. (ANI)
