London, June 13 (ANI): Cuba's three-time Olympic heavyweight champion Teofilo Stevenson has died at the age of 60.
Stevenson, considered as one of the greatest ever fighters, won gold at the Munich Olympics 1972 and also during Olympics in Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980.
A statement carried by Latin American news station TeleSUR said, "The Cuban boxer Teofilo Stevenson, one of the leading boxers in the history of amateur boxing, died Monday at the age 60 of a heart attack."
A hotly anticipated bout between Stevenson and Muhammad Ali was touted in the 70s, but Ali refused to relinquish his amateur status and the fight never took place, Sports24 reported. (ANI)
