London, June 12 (ANI): Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter Zara Phillips is all set to compete in the equestrian event of London Olympics, 2012, after beating her rivals to the final place in the squad.
An accomplished horse rider, Phillips has finally secured her dream place in the British Olympic equestrian team.
The delighted royal had just one word to celebrate her selection - "Awesome!"
It's third time lucky for the 31-year-old, who will compete on her horse High Kingdom, the Daily Star reported.
Phillips missed out in 2004 and 2008, when her horse 'Toytown' got injured.
However, last weekend she finished third in the final selection event, 'Bramham Horse Trials' in West Yorkshire, to book her place in the five-strong British team.
Phillips is apparently following in her parent's Olympic tradition. Her mother Princess Anne competed in 1976 while her dad, Captain Mark Phillips, won a gold in 1972 and a silver in 1988.
Phillips, who is 13th in line to the throne, won the 2007 World Championships, but 'Toytown' was regarded as a better horse than 'High Kingdom'.
Although equestrian pundits reckoned that she might yet again face selection disappointment but her partnership with High Kingdom has blossomed in the past year. (ANI)
