Naidu backs Ramdev, says lopsided economic policies responsible for scandals

Hyderabad, June 11 (ANI): Backing yoga guru Baba Ramdev's movement against black money, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said lopsided economic policies are responsible for the emerging scandals within the country.

Jointly addressing the media with Baba Ramdev, Naidu said: "Now, because of our lopsided policies and the corrupt politicians, corrupt entrepreneurs and also ineffective administration all these things put together so many scandals are coming out."

Naidu further hailed the efforts of social activist Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev as they undertake the campaign against graft.

"So, this is high time to control all these things. I really appreciate Ramdev Baba and Anna Hazare. They have to take this lead, this agitation for the logical conclusion. Even myself that is what I extend my support to him, I am interested in nation," he added.

Baba Ramdev said the motive behind his meetings with leaders of various political outfits is to build a consensus on the black money and corruption issues.

"I have discussed with him (Chandrababu Naidu) the issues related to black money, corruption and the need to change the system. We want to meet and unite the top leaders of all the political parties on this issue and on August 9 we will launch a nationwide agitation in Delhi," said Ramdev.

Baba Ramdev also stressed that there is a need to bridge the gap between shining and burning India.

"On the one hand, you are talking about shining India and on the other, burning India. We need to bridge the gap between shining and burning India and we want the country to prosper. There should be prosperity and spirituality in the whole nation and once again India should become world economic super power and spiritual power. In order to attain this it is imperative that the black money comes back to India," added Baba Ramdev.

He further said that he would also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on the issue of black money issue in the days to come.

Baba Ramdev had earlier met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh and Akali Dal supremo Parkash Singh Badal.

Baba Ramdev has been at loggerheads with the government over a range of national issues for the past many months.

The outspoken yoga guru had also called on the government last year to pursue billions of dollars in illegal funds abroad and the withdrawal of high denomination bank notes. (ANI)
