'I'd be the rock that England needs', says custodian Hart

London, Fri, 08 Jun 2012 ANI

London, June 8 (ANI): Ace England goalkeeper Joe hart has said that he would be his team's 'rock' if needed to be, ahead of the Euro 2012.

Hart has been likened to legendary England keepers like Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, David Seaman, just after 18 caps.

"I've got 18 caps and I want to improve on that at every opportunity, first and foremost on Monday against France. I'm just looking forward to building something and being the rock that England need," The Sun quoted Hart, as saying.

Hart, who is perhaps one of the only three world-class players in the England squad, said that he has a long way go to be anywhere close to the legendary goal keepers.

"It's something I keep away from because people get wrapped up in the moment and comparisons are easily made. But when you break it down I've got a long way to go to get anywhere near goalkeepers like them. I've only just started out on my journey as a goalkeeper," he said.

His Manchester City team-mate Samir Nasri, who will be in the France team next Monday, is doing everything he can to orchestrate the downfall of England in Donetsk.

However, the 6ft 5in keeper smiled and said, "I gave as good as I got. I'm as confident as he is about the outcome next Monday." (ANI)
