Agartala, June 7(ANI): Pankaj Saran, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar here in an effort o improve India- Bangladesh ties.
Saran also met state commerce minister Jitendra Chowdhury and discussed several ongoing developmental programmes between Tripura nd Bangladesh.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Saran said both India and Bangladesh were heading having peaceful and cordial relations.
"Teesta water sharing is matter of which we have also held a lot of discussions with Bangladesh and we are in a process of developing a political consensus among all the stake holders, and we have assured Bangladesh that as soon as we arrive at this political consensus we will definitely implement all the assurances that we have given to them. Meanwhile, our cooperation with Bangladesh is continuing across the board in many sectors and it is moving in right direction," he said.
Saran also expressed hope that concrete progress on all issues including use of Chittagong and Mongala port.(ANI)
