Srinagar, June 2 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajnath Singh Saturday said people who met the party's delegation to Jammu and Kashmir complained of rampant corruption in the state.

Addressing a press conference in the state's summer capital, Singh said: 'People who met us during our visit to Jammu and Kashmir have complained of rampant corruption.'

He also said that there was a deep sense of mistrust and discrimination among the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

'We believe that if a serious effort is made by the government with honesty, a solution to the problems of Jammu and Kashmir is possible within the constitution of the country of which the state is an integral part', Singh said.

Replying to a question about allegations of coal blocks being allotted to relatives of BJP president Nitin Gadkari, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was also present at the conference, said: 'The Chhattisgarh government has issued a statement that the allotment was made after open bidding.'

The BJP leaders said the party's study group on Kashmir would take another three months to complete its report.

Asked whether the party supported the dialogue between India and Pakistan, Singh said: 'All we know is that India is talking to Pakistan on terrorism. If they are talking on other issues, we don't know about that.'
