Coalgate: BJP "happy" with CVC's response

New Delhi, Fri, 01 Jun 2012 ANI

New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday expressed delight over the Central Vigilance Commission's (CVC) response to their filed complaints in connection with the alleged multi crore coal scam.

Addressing mediapersons here, the BJP spokesperson and a fellow complainant in the case, Prakash Javadekar acknowledged the CVC's efforts.

"We are happy that the CVC has taken cognisance of the complaint and the efforts by Hansraj Ahir, for years together and they were duly examined by the commission, not that they had just forwarded," he said.

He added that the BJP was ready to play the waiting game till the likely probe by the Central Bureu of Investigations (CBI) takes shape.

" Now it is over to the CBI. We will wait for how the CBI processes and then we will give our comment if necessary," Javadekar said.

The CVC is likely to direct the CBI to probe losses suffered by public exchequer in allocation of coal blocks in between 2006 and 2009 to private companies.

The CVC has forwarded a compliant filed by BJP lawmakers Javadekar and Hansraj Ahir to the CBI a month ago. (ANI)
