Ferdinand fancies 'manager' role in Premier League post retirement

London , Fri, 01 Jun 2012 ANI

London, June 1 (ANI): Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has expressed his desire that he would like to be a manager in the Barclays Premier League.

Ferdinand is on holiday this week after being left out of Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2012.

"As the months and years have gone by I think I have come round to the idea of doing some sort of coaching or being a manager," the Daily Mail quoted Ferdinand, as saying.

The English footballer, 33, believes he still has a few years left playing at the top level and will be offered a new contract at United in the coming months, but he has admitted to turning his thoughts to coaching in the future.

"Obviously I love football and all the tactics but I also think I would like the day-to-day responsibility of cajoling players and bringing the best out of them. Man-management is so important these days. I think I would love that side of it," he said. (ANI)
