Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh), May 31 (ANI): At least seven persons were killed and 24 others were injured after five coaches of the Doon Express derailed near the Mahrawa Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur District on Thursday afternoon.
Reports said that the death and injury toll from the mishap could rise.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the five bogies of the train skidded off the track at around 1.15 in the afternoon. The train was heading towards Varanasi at the time of its derailment.
Medical teams from Lucknow and a rescue team from Jaunpur have been sent to the accident site.
This is the second rail mishap in this month of May.
On May 22, Hampi Express train rammed a stationary goods train Penukonda station in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur District, killing 25 passengers.
