Andre 3000 plays Jimi Hendrix in upcoming biopic

London, May 29 (ANI): Andre 3000 has began shooting for 'All Is By My Side', which is a biopic on the late musician Jimi Hendrix in Dublin, Ireland.

The rapper was a splitting image of Hendrix as he was pictured for the first time in costume to play the guitar legend.

Dressed in a colourful open neck shirt, almost identical to the style Hendrix used to wear, he kicked off the first day of shooting under the sun, the Daily Mail reported

Andre 3000, whose real name is Andre Benjamin, even sported the same hairdo as 'The Wind Cries Mary' star.

However whether he has grown it for the role or is wearing a wig is unknown.

Biopic 'All Is By My Side' is a about the rock star's life, which focuses on Hendrix's career breakthrough around the time he moved to London in 1966, which is why Andre is filming in Dublin.

The film will revolve around the icon's exploits as he worked on his classic debut 'Are you experienced'

While Andre bears a resemblance to the legendary musician, his guitar skills are not thought to be a close match to the legendry musician.

The 37-year-old star has admitted that his biggest hit in 2002, 'Hey Ya!' was based on the only four chords he knew how to play.

While shooting may be underway, but it is not known if the company making it has secured the rights to use any of Hendrix's songs, because his estate has previously blocked all requests to do so.

The film has been a long time in the making, with Andre previously asserting that 'Everybody wants to do the movie, but there are so many things that go into a biopic.'

"It's kinda like, until you are on set doing it you can't say what's going on," he added. (ANI)
