Dharamshala, May 29 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans residing in Dharamshala paid homage to young Tibetans who had self-immolated themselves, owing to China's repressive policies in Tibet.
Several Tibetans congregated at prime locations in the town to express solidarity with Tibetans who had sacrificed their lives.
"Altogether, 37 cases of self-immolation have happened in Tibet and most of them have already been dead and others are injured and they are in hospitals, so this shows how the Chinese have been repressive and the Tibetan people in no way want to be suppressed and they have only one demand that His Holiness the Dalai Lama must return to Tibet," said Tsering, a Tibetan.
As per statistics, 37 Tibetans had set themselves on fire since 2009 calling for freedom and the Dalai Lama's return to his homeland.
Most self-immolations have taken place in heavily Tibetan areas of China. Only one had occurred in Tibet itself. (ANI)
