Chelsea custodian Cech commits to Stamford Bridge till 2016

London, May 29(ANI): Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has signed a new four-year contract with the Blues, which would keep him at the club till 2016.

Cech, who joined Chelsea in 2004, has already played more games for the European champions that any other overseas player, with 369 appearances.

The Czech international has already won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Carling Cups plus the Champions League in his eight-year tenure at Stamford Bridge.

"I am really happy to be part of this great club for another four years. I hope the next four years will be just as successful as the last eight," The Sun quoted Cech, as saying.

Chelsea's chief executive Ron Gourlay said: "Chelsea fully appreciates the significant contribution Petr has made to the most successful period in the club's history.

"It is very important that he has committed himself until 2016. It is clear to anyone who watched the climax to the season that Petr continues to perform as well as any goalkeeper in the world." (ANI)
