New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): The Crown Prince of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will pay an official visit to India from May 30 to June 1, 2012 at the invitation of Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.
A Ministry of External Affairs statement said that a high level ministerial delegation, senior officials and businessmen, would accompany the Crown Prince of Bahrain.
This is the second visit of the Crown Prince to India. The last one was in March 2007.
According to the statement, the Crown Prince will reach Mumbai first where business/industry meetings have been organized for the high-powered delegation accompanying him.
The Crown Prince will also meet the Governor of Maharashtra in Mumbai.
In New Delhi, the Crown Prince will meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.
Vice-President Ansari will host a banquet in honour of the Crown Prince.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and the External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna will call on the Crown Prince.
India and Bahrain enjoy historically close and friendly relations. Presence of nearly 350,000 Indian nationals out of a total of 1.2 million residents in Bahrain is an important aspect of India's bilateral relations with Bahrain.
Trade and investment cooperation is expanding with trade at present being USD1.5 billion during 2010-11.
The visit of the Crown Prince is expected to provide further impetus to our multifaceted engagement with the Kingdom of Bahrain. (ANI)
