Chandigarh, May 26 (IANS) Heat wave conditions continued to prevail over most parts of Punjab and Haryana even though the maximum temperatures Saturday gave partial relief compared to the highs recorded Friday, weather officials said here.
Rohtak town in Haryana, 70 km from New Delhi, was the hottest at 43.1 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Narnaul (42.5) and Hisar (42.1).
Hisar was the hottest Friday in this season at a sizzling 45.1 degrees.
Chandigarh had a high of 40.3 degrees compared to a hot 43.4 degrees Friday.
In Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala recorded 41.4 and 41.7 degrees respectively.
Met officials said that the high temperatures were likely to go down Sunday. They said that there is a possibility of thunderstorms at some places in both states.
