Air India strike enters 19th day, passengers left stranded

Mumbai , Sat, 26 May 2012 ANI

Mumbai, May 6 (ANI): The Centre and the Air India management failed to end the ongoing impasse, leaving the passengers to bear the brunt of official apathy, even as the strike by the national carrier's pilots entered its 19th day.

The passengers blamed the government's inaction for their misery.

Sanjay Prasad, a passenger at the airport whose flight was abruptly postponed, said, "I have to travel by Air India, but the airline authorities are saying that the flight is scheduled for tomorrow."

Similar scenes were witnessed at the Delhi airport too, where harried passengers were seen moving around with their luggage.

Delhi High Court on Wednesday had sought explanation from the striking pilots for violating the court rulings, and directed them to resume work.

Earlier, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said that the striking pilots had refused for unconditional talks with the government, and added it was difficult to say when the deadlock will end. (ANI)
