Four Maoists surrender in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 25 (IANS) Four Maoists including two women, carrying rewards on their heads, surrendered in Odisha's Keonjhar district Friday, police said.

The extremists who surrendered in the district headquarters town of Keonjhar, about 235 km from here, were cadres of the Kalinga Nagar division of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist, a senior district police official told IANS.

While 18-year-old Sambari Munda was carrying a reward of Rs.2 lakh on his head, Rambati Hembram 20, Aiban Tiu 20, and Singh Dharani 22, were carrying rewards of Rs.20,000 each, he added.

They wanted to return to the mainstream after being motivated from the recent appeal of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he added.
