New Delhi, May 25 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday downplayed party veteran Lal Krishna Advani's decision to skip the party's rally in Mumbai this evening, saying he had prior commitments.
"Advaniji was scheduled to attend another meeting. There is no truth in reports of Advaniji being upset," said senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier in the day said that Lal Krishna Advani would not be attending the party rally this evening because of a prior engagement.
"Advaniji is not angry. He had a prior engagement, and therefore, is not attending today's rally. Advaniji is a part of those layers which make decisions in the party," said Sitharaman.
"There is no connection between the resolution's content and him being away. No decision comes through before it passes several layers in the party," she added.
The BJP's rally, which will be held here this evening, is scheduled to be attended by all the chief ministers of the party.
According to reports, Advani and another senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj are among those, who are opposed to a second term for Nitin Gadkari as party president.
It may be recalled here that Advani, who has been a part of the BJP's political strategy for the last 60 years, has never skipped a meet. (ANI)
