Ghaziabad/ New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): A Sessions Court in Ghaziabad on Wednesday deferred the hearing on the framing of charges against Dr. Nupur Talwar to Thursday in connection with the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case.
The court's decision came after lawyers for Nupur and Rajesh Talwar produced a golf club in court today to dispute allegations that the couple used a similar club to kill their daughter, Aarushi, and their domestic help, Hemraj in May 2008.
On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had argued that the Talwars should be charged with murder, filing false FIRs, destruction of evidence and misleading the court in connection with the 2008 murder case.
The CBI had sought to charge the Talwar couple under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), a charge which carries death sentence.
The CBI also claimed that Aarushi and Hemraj's injuries were identical.
"The golf stick recovered from the house matches the injury. The Talwars refused to identify Hemraj's body and gave false information regarding the crime scene," the CBI counsel said.
The Talwars' counsel claimed there was no direct evidence to prove the charges that the CBI claimed against the Talwars.
Aarushi,14, was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida residence on May 16, 2008 and the body of Hemraj was recovered from the terrace a day later.(ANI)
