Participation of Sialkot Stallions will revive Indo-Pak cricket ties: PCB

Lahore, Wed, 23 May 2012 ANI

Lahore, May 23 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Chaudhary Zaka Asrhaf has said that the participation of the Sialkot Stallions in the Champions League in India would be a step forward to revive cricket ties between the archrivals.

"We welcome the invitation for the Stallions to take part in Champions League and it is a good gesture shown by the Indian authorities to move forward for reviving cricket ties between the two countries," he told reporters at the Gadaffi Stadium here.

The PCB chief said since 2008 there was no cricket series played between both countries and it was imperative to resume cricket ties between the two best cricket nations of the sub-continent to support the cause of cricket in the region.

"I think the ice has started melting as far as Pak-India cricket relations are concerned because the overall relations between the countries are also improving and we should continue efforts to further improve these ties," he added.

He said he had accepted the invitation to watch the final of the Indian Premier League and was confident that his visit would help bring closer the two cricket boards. "In the given circumstances we can hope for the best," the PCB chief said.

Zaka said Pakistan would start its league in near future and would like to have the participation of the Indian players, the Daily Times reports. (ANI)
