Chennai, May 19 (IANS) Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Rajtarang, an improved version of fast attack craft for anti-smuggling, anti-poaching and rescue operations was commissioned by Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju here Saturday.
The Inshore Patrol Vessel (IPV) was commissioned by Raju in presence of Coast Guard chief Vice Admiral M.P. Muralidharan.
The ship, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers ltd (GRSE), a Mini Ratna defence shipyard, was the second in the series of eight ships ordered by Indian Coast Guard.
The GRSE said it has targeted to deliver the third ship of this series within the next couple of months.
ICGS Rajtarang is fitted with state of the art water jet units and integrated bridge system, integrating all communication and navigation systems, a GRSE statement said.
