Amritsar, May 16 (ANI): Union Home Secretary R.K.Singh on Wednesday said he would raise the issue of Indian-origin fugitives allegedly living in Pakistan with Interior Secretary Chaudhry Qamar Zaman when they meet in Islamabad on May 24 and 25.
Speaking with media here, Singh also replied in the affirmative when asked if the issue of taking legal action against Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed for his role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, would be taken up during the talks.
He hoped that the sanctions imposed by the United States on key aides of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, would mount pressure on Pakistan to act against these fugitives from Indian justice.
Singh was in Amritsar to review the Integrated Check Post (ICP) located at the Indo-Pak border.
Singh said: "We will be raising the issue of our fugitives residing in Pakistan during the coming meeting. "
Singh said that he expected to have a constructive meeting with Zaman, and added: "We will be signing new visa regime and would discuss other important issues relating to India-Pakistan relations."
Singh, who was accompanied by his wife, also paid homage at the Golden Temple.
Talking to media at the information center of the Golden Temple, he said that the fight against Naxalites was a long one, but the government is confident about tackling it effectively.
"They (Naxalites) wanted to de-establish our democratic set up, which, we will not let them to do." By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
