Goal Line Tech to be used for next season of Premier League

London, Wed, 16 May 2012 ANI

London, May 16 (ANI): Goal Line technology will be used in the Premier League next season, a report has confirmed.

The technology by Hawk-eye is being tested at the Hampshire Senior Cup final on Wednesday night while FIFA are expected to give it the go-ahead in July.

The system is unlikely to be ready when the Premier League kicks off in August, but Chief Executive Richard Scudamore has a expressed desire to bring it in midway through the season.

"When we are ready to go, we can go with it. The law is not changing - that is still about whether the ball has gone over the line or not. We have never introduced a rule change mid-season, but there is no change of rule," the Daily Mirror quoted Scudamore, as saying.

Although he previously said that the technology will be introduced from the start, but in the light of the recent 'ghost goal' by Juan Mata for Chelsea in their FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham has called for the technology to be given a green light. (ANI)
