London, May 13(ANI): England batsman Kevin Pietersen is close to becoming an England legend, as he only needs two more Test hundreds to equal Wally Hammond, Colin Cowdrey and Geoff Boycott's tally of 22 Test centuries for England.
Pietersen, who has been enjoying fine form lately, would be in pursuit to break this record when England faces the West Indies and South Africa during the summer.
Surrey team director Chris Adams believes something special is just around the corner for the South Africa-born batsman, The Daily Mail reports.
"He looks in great nick, primed and ready for a big summer, and I certainly wouldn't bet against that," said Adams, following Pietersen's 69 against Worcestershire in the County Championship.
"He has come back from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in a very confident and positive state of mind. To go and play like he did, lining up some deliveries in bowler-friendly conditions, would have done him the world of good," he added.
"I chatted with Andy Flower last week to see what we could do for Kevin, and the main theme was to get him the opportunity to spend some time in the middle - which he has done," he said.
Pietersen's rich vein of form began with his swaggering 151 in the victory over Sri Lanka last month, and continued with his first Twenty20 ton for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. (ANI)
