Meerut, May 12 (ANI): A businessman was killed after being hit while trying to take pictures of his two-seater aircraft near the outskirts of Meerut on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Yogesh Garg, was the owner of the micro-light private plane. According to reports, he suffered major injuries on his head and died on the spot.
But the aircraft's pilot Anil Gupta and another passenger, who was a lady, escaped unhurt in the unfortunate accident, which took place at around 11 a.m. today.
The aircraft's pilot, Anil Gupta, said that he made all attempts to save Yogesh Garg.
"I was flying the aircraft. I was trying to overshoot after landing when he was on the runway. I tried to save him, but my speed was slow and I could not overshoot the aircraft. I even could have lost my life. I heard a sound that the aircraft had hit something then I looked at the propeller and found that my engine was working properly," said Gupta.
"I returned to land the aircraft immediately. While landing I realized that that the left wheel of the aircraft was missing. The aircraft ran with great speed towards the right side," he added.
Gupta further said that he came to know later that Garg was on the runway and clicking pictures of the aircraft.
"He was on the runway. I came to know later that he was taking pictures. When I was flying the aircraft, at that time I didn't know what he was exactly doing," he added.
Meanwhile, a senior police official present at the spot said this appears to be an accidental case, and added that all others present during the crash will be asked about the matter in detail. (ANI)
