PETA happy with Pamela Anderson adopting Indian homeless dog Pyari

London, May 12 (ANI): Pamela Anderson, who is an honorary director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), has pledged her support by adopting a homeless puppy, rescued from a construction site in Mumbai, India.

The 'Baywatch' star was said to be devastated at the plight of street dogs in India after a recent visit to the country.

The 44-year-old actress has called her puppy Pyari, or "Loved One".

"I'm thrilled to be able to give Pyari a loving home," the Mirror quoted her as saying.

"I already have rescued dogs, and I urge everyone to join me in adopting a homeless dog from their local animal shelter or the streets instead of buying a so-called 'pedigree'," she said.

A PETA spokesperson said of the cause: "Each year, thousands of cats and dogs are euthanised in the UK alone because there aren't enough good homes for them.

"Others are abandoned on the streets, where they starve to death, get injured or killed by vehicles or fall prey to abuse," the spokesperson added. (ANI)
