London, May 9(ANI): Everton captain Phil Neville is expected to join England's new manager Roy Hodgson's coaching set-up.

Hodgson has already named Fulham coach Ray Lewington as his first assistant, and is now eyeing a young and emerging coach who is close to the players.

The former Manchester United player, Neville, fits the category well as he would be an ideal candidate to communicate between the players and top-level England management in a role Hodgson is looking to create ahead of Euro 2012.

Neville, who has played 59 times for England has just completed his coaching A licence and would jump at the chance, even though he had hoped to carry on playing for another season.

Brother of United legend and football pundit Gary Neville, Phil has already picked up international coaching experience with England Under-21s prior to their clash with Belgium in February. (ANI)
