Colombo, May 7 (ANI): The Sri Lanka Sports Medical Unit has recommended that Twenty20 cricket should be banned at the school level, terming it inappropriate for young cricketers.
The Express Tribune quoted Sri Lanka Sports Medical Unit chief Arjuna de Silva, as saying that Twenty20 cricket requires technical adjustments and added that it was important for young cricketers' to develop their skills before moving towards playing the shortest format of the game.
The organisation has also suggested the Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena and Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage take steps to ban the format at the school level.
The Sri Lanka School Cricket Association held a T20 event for under 19 players for first time in 2011. (ANI)
