London, May 6(ANI): Barcelona midfielder Lionel Messi, who has now developed a knack of breaking records, has shattered the all-time world record for most goals in one season, as his four goals against Espanyol at Nou Camp on Saturday took his tally to an astonishing 72.
Scotsman Archie Stark, who netted 70 goals for US side Bethlehem Steel in 1924/25, held the previous record, The Sun reports.
The Argentinean's haul also saw him reach 50 La Liga goals for the season, it and was his 14th hat trick in Spanish La Liga, which broke Barca's previous record held by Cesar Rodriguez. (ANI)
