London, May 6 (ANI): Sir Alex Ferguson regrets selling ex-Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid cheaply, which was then a world record 80 million pounds.
Ronaldo's recent sensational goal scoring marathon has helped Real Madrid claim Spain's La Liga title.
"There is only value if you are successful. If you spend say what Real did for Ronaldo, 80 million pounds, it is only success that justifies that. What I am saying is that it looks cheap now. Real will be saying now we would have paid 160 million pounds if we had known we were going to get this," the Daily Star quoted Ronaldo, as saying.
Ronaldo, 27, who switched to the Bernabeu in 2009 and has just secured his first La Liga winner's medal under Jose Mourinho, has scored a total of 44 league goals this season.
"It is unbelievable. That was a fantastic buy for them at 80 million pounds. We knew we had an agreement he would be going after we got him to stay another year, and for 80 million pounds- we thought that's not bad. But bloody hell, now we are saying it should've been 800 million pounds," Ferguson admitted. (ANI)
