BJP demands Singhvi to explain his resignation in parliament

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday demanded Congress lawmaker Abhishek Manu Singhvi to explain to the parliament the reason behind his resignation as chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law and Justice.

"As he has already resigned we are now hoping that the reason behind his resignation from his post in the parliamentary committee would be clarified by Mr. Singhvi in the Parliament," said Jaitley.

Earlier in the day, Singhvi resigned from all official and Congress Party positions, including as chairman of the Parliament's Standing Committee on Law and Justice and as Congress Party spokesman.

In an aggressively worded statement sent via e-mail, Singhvi said that he had been forced to quit because of the controversy surrounding the "distorted CD" sex row, which he described as wishful thinking and pure imagination.

He said that he did not want the controversy to dominate proceedings in Parliament during the remaining part of the budget session, and that was why he was quitting both posts. (ANI)
