BJP urges Centre to consider legitimate rights of states

Amritsar, Apr 22 (ANI): Claiming the 15-day deadline issued by the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to the central government as a 'legitimate right', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday urged the Congress party to consider her demand.

"There are legitimate aspirations of the state and the centre should look at those aspirations rather than ignore those aspirations," said Jaitely.

Mamata Banerjee had recently said that the state needed an increased package as it was dealing with the debt of the past government.

She had further said that with a significant chunk of state income draining out to cover the debt, her government needed monetary support from the central government to cover their developmental expenditures. (ANI)
