Voice in my head told me to quit Twitter, says Nicki Minaj

New York, Sat, 21 Apr 2012 ANI

New York, Apr 21 (ANI): Nicki Minaj, who had previously asserted that she deactivated her Twitter account after a fan leaked the music of her album, has now said that she did it owing to a voice in her head.

Minaj had 11 million followers on Twitter by the time she logged off on April 15.

During an appearance on BBC's "Graham Norton Show," the eccentric performer revealed what convinced her to suddenly quit the social networking site earlier this week, much to the dismay of her many fans she fondly refers to as her "Barbz."

"A voice in my head told me to delete my Twitter and that's what I did," the New York Daily News quoted her as saying on the show.

"I had 11 million followers and I hope they will wait for me.

"I reply all the time and get to know them by name and I have a really personal bond with them...not all 11 million, but at least 10 of them a day," she said.

Though the 29-year-old rapper didn't explain in the interview her reasons for abruptly quitting Twitter, she made mention of it in her last few tweets before signing off late Sunday evening.

At the time, Minaj said her sudden online disappearance stemmed from a few leaked tracks. After accusing a fan site of leaking songs from her new album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" online, the singer decided to go one step further and shut down her page entirely.

"And that's exactly why I'm paying the barbz DUST right now! And deleting my twitter," she had written.

"Smdh - don't cry 4 me argentina.

"Like seriously, it's but so much a person can take. Good f-ing bye," she had tweeted.

But this may not be the last we read the singer's 140-character posts.

On being asked if she will eventually reactivate her online account, Minaj made a non-committal reply

"I don't know yet, I'm thinking about it. I miss my Barbz, please bear with me," she added. (ANI)
