Man U player Young touted as Daley's Olympic partner after diving controversy!

Old Trafford, Apr 9(ANI): Manchester United player Ashley Young is being touted as a potential Olympic diving partner for former champion Tom Daley following a diving controversy in the week-end game against Queen Park Rangers.

"Difficult to take after watching numerous replays but Ashley Young could partner Tom Daley at the Olympics," The Daily Express quoted QPR chief executive Philip Beard's tweet, as saying.

The statement comes after the Queen Park Rangers were left seething when Manchester United's Young, who was initially a yard offside, dived under minimal contact from Shaun Derry to win a penalty.

The referees sent off QPR skipper Derry, and Wayne Rooney subsequently led United to a 2-0 victory.

QPR manager Mark Hughes was also unable to suppress his anger at the decision.

"It was clear the initial run was offside and there was minimal contact - the boy has gone over too easily. I felt the referee was a little bit too quick to put the whistle to his mouth. The kid was still rolling around when he gave the penalty. His assistant didn't have the chance to put his flag up. We're desperately disappointed with the referee for the vast majority of the game," he addedven United manager Sir Alex Ferguson disagreed with officials' decision.

"I have to say Ashley was a yard offside so I can understand Mark [Hughes] being angry and disappointed in that. I think the boy [Derry] had a little tug on Ashley. Not a great deal but enough to unbalance him and get us a penalty kick. It was unfortunate but being the last defender he had to be sent off," he added. (ANI)
