Court decision in Bangaru Laxman sting April 27

New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) A Delhi court hearing a case against former Bharatiya Janata Party president Bangaru Laxman for allegedly accepting a bribe from a fake arm dealer has reserved its order till April 27.

Additional Sessions Judge Kanwaljeet Arora Monday said: "Let the matter be listed for judgment on April 27."

"Considering the multi-faceted arguments advanced and the bulky record of the case, which is required to be considered, the judgment cannot be prepared within 15 days from today," said judge Arora.

The court order came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special public prosecutor Padmini Singh and Laxam's counsel and senior advocate Sunil Kumar concluded their final arguments.

According to the CBI charge sheet, Tehelka portal scribes, impersonating as representatives of West End International, had held eight meetings with Laxman between Dec 23, 2000 and Jan 7, 2001, projecting themselves as suppliers of defence-related products.

The CBI alleged Laxman accepted Rs.1 lakh from the representatives of the purported firm in 2001 at his office for pursuing their proposal to supply certain products to the army.
