Security forces in Assam seize arms and ammunition

Kamrup, Mar 31 (ANI): Security forces in Assam seized huge cache of ultra modern arms and ammunitions in Guwahati.

Assistant Commandant of the 128 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jaswinder Singh said that local police was also involved in the operation.

"We received information at around 10 in the morning that some of the arm squads will be carrying cache of weapons from Dimapur to Chirang via Guwahati. So, we developed the inputs and then we deployed a barricade at an isolated place near Sonapur. It is there that we searched an Indica car, from which we recovered two HK33 (Heckler and Koch) rifles and around 950 ammunitions. This is a big achievement for CRPF and the city police was also a part of the operation," said Singh.

The team arrested two men suspected to belong to Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA). (ANI)
