India-Brazil conclude agreement on cultural exchange and technical cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 30 (ANI): The Brazilian delegation led by President Dilma Rousseff on Friday signed agreement on cultural exchange and technical cooperation with India.

Brazilian Minister of External Relations Antonio de Aguiar Patriota and External Affairs Minister S M Krishna signed an agreement on Executive Programme on Cultural Exchanges (CEP), which envisages to organize meetings of cultural joint commission, promote technical and cultural cooperation on visual arts, exchange of artistic groups and cooperation in the areas cultural heritage and museums.

Krishna and Patriota also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for technical cooperation, which sought to exchange information on each other's technical cooperation programmes and projects and discuss evaluation and establishment of common priority areas.

The two nations also signed MOUs and agreements in the field of Science and Technology, Biotechnology, education and women and child development.

Emphasizing on measures to promote greater bilateral business interaction between India and Brazil, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today said that the both are committed to creating an international order that facilitates our efforts at poverty eradication and social development.

He further said that both India and Brazil share common perspectives on environmental issues

Praising Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, Dr. Singh said: "President Rousseff is a pioneer in many fields. She is the first Brazilian woman to be elected to the office of president of her country. Her personal zeal and commitment to democracy, human rights and upliftment of the downtrodden are well known."

"I have conveyed to her our deep admiration of her work and her achievements. I congratulated her on receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Delhi," he added. (ANI)
