'Stressed out' Ryder's future in limbo as IPL date looms

Wellington, Mar 15(ANI): New Zealand batsman Jessie Ryder's comeback to the cricket pitch remains in doubt, as the second year of his contract with Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League looms next month.

Ryder is on a break from cricket as he works through unknown personal issues, after what his manager Aaron Klee described as 'a deeply stressful and emotional time' in and out of the national side.

However, Ryder's return for Wellington's final match of the season hasn't been ruled out yet. Wellington have two Plunket Shield matches remaining, the next against Central Districts starting on Sunday at Karori.

It's understood that Ryder won't be available for that match, but the Firebirds' visit to Dunedin, the following week remains an outside chance for him to make a comeback, Stuff.co.nz reports.

Klee said on Wednesday there were no updates on Ryder's possible return date

A meeting involving Klee, Karen Nimmo, the clinical psychologist Ryder works with, and New Zealand Cricket Players Association boss Heath Mills is likely to take place to discuss his future.

Nimmo refused to comment anything on the issue due to the confidentiality of the matter, but did confirm that Ryder was 'doing well and making steady progress'. (ANI)
