President Patil extends greetings ahead of International Women's Day

New Delhi, Mar 7 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil ahead of the International Women's Day, which will be observed tomorrow, has extended her greetings on the occasion for the continuing role and relentless effort of women in shaping the destiny of the country.

"Every year, International Women's Day is being celebrated on 8th March, to dedicate ourselves to strive for a world based on gender equality and justice. It is a day to celebrate the spirit of ordinary women, who have played extraordinary roles in shaping their families, communities, society and countries," said Patil.

Emphasising the role of women in eradicating the social issues like poverty and gender inequality, Patil said women empowerment is an important field where more work, needs to be done.

The International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. (ANI)
