London, Mar 5(ANI): Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas had a training bust-up with striker Fernando Torres before sacking.
The reason behind the clash is said to be a controversial interview Villas-Boas gave to a Portuguese radio in which he compared Torres to previous Chelsea flops like Andrey Shevchenko and Mateja Kezman.
Torres has not scored in the Premier League since last September, but he was furious over Villas-Boas' comment and confronted his former boss at Chelsea training ground, The Daily Star reports.
Owner Roman Abramovich was deeply concerned about the interview that Villas-Boas gave in Portugal, and requested for a full transcript of the radio interview in Russian so he could make sure that he understood it all.
Villas-Boas originally stuck by Torres, but since Didier Drogba's return from the African Nations Cup, he dropped him and virtually gave up on the ex-Liverpool flop. (ANI)
