Sydney, Mar 1(ANI): Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has vowed to reclaim his spot in the Australian team.
Johnson's bid to reclaim his Baggy Green will begin next month in India, after the Mumbai Indians purchased him for a relatively modest 300,000 US dollars.
"You know I'm going to the IPL, I want to perform there and get back into the swing of things and maybe play some cricket in the UK as well," The Herald Sun quoted Johnson, as saying.
"And then if I don't get picked up I'll maybe play some state cricket and work really hard through that, so I'll do whatever I can to make it," he said.
Many have shed doubts as to whether the taker of 190 wickets and once the toast of Australian cricket, will be able to win back his place in the national side after a serious toe injury and subsequent surgery.
Most of the Australian team's recent success has been built on the back of youngsters James Pattinson and Mitchell Starc, while experienced trio Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris and Ben Hilfenhaus also rediscovered their best form.
"I've said it in the past, I don't think I've played at my best yet, so I want to be able to do that. And if it means I don't play Test cricket again, or cricket for Australia, then so be it," Johnson said.
"I'm very happy with where I am but look I'll be pushing hard to get back into that side, that's for sure," he added. (ANI)
